Deep Learning & AI: What's behind the hype curtain Self-driving cars, Siri, Cancer sniffers, Shark & seacow monitoring, fraud detection, recognizing people .. deep learning seems to be doing everything the past five years. Being an old and relatively simple mathematical technique in origin, we will explain what deep learning is and how it works, what its limitations are, where it is going, why you might care, and how you can start at home. We'll also set aside some time to discuss AI-taking-over-the-world scenarios, figure out how fast we'll all be losing our jobs. Note: Lunch will be distributed directly after the lecture!
